nglayout project

identity crisis

12-10-98
Recently in the press, there have been a lot of articles about something Netscape calls "Gecko." This is marketing hoopla around two Mozilla projects: NGLayout (formerly known as Raptor) and XPFE. Before Netscape's marketing department named it "Gecko," they had referred to it using the code name "NGT."

Mozilla.Org is not Netscape. So we'll keep on calling NGLayout by its name, as we will for XPFE. Meanwhile, the press and general public will continue to hear about Gecko from the Netscape marketing people, who are doing jumping jacks of excitement over NGLayout's standards support and high performance, and XPFE's nifty architecture.

Remember, your help is needed so we can justify all the excitement in the end with a truly great layout engine.
